July 2019 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects

The On My Mind Paper Pumpkin kit from Stampin' Up! was a great kit to work with as it was originally designed.  The projects offered three cards each of three different designs that encourage you to reach out to a friend, tell a mate Happy Birthday, or simply let a person know they are the best.

This month's kit coordinated with three product suites in the annual catalog:

These three full sized cards were the ones with instructions in the kit.  That means you could have gotten this kit in the mail for $22 plus tax (shipping included) and gotten the ink, paper, instructions, adhesive, and all the pieces.  Plus first time subscribers get a clear block as well!

Subscribers with me get a project sheet with additional ideas and links, along with helpful tips and tricks and coordinating products.  I'm all about using Paper Pumpkin with other supplies you already have.  However, as I've been packing up my house for a painting project, the craft room is closed for business and I had to keep this limited to the kit and a few add'l ink pads.  I'm grateful my husband let me borrow the dining room table for this one.  Here are the additional ideas I came up with.

Floating Frames with Groovy Stampers

When I joined Stampin' Up! 15 years ago, I was a downline under my sister.  These days, my sister is back to being a demonstrator with me as her upline!  Today we had our Groovy Stampers meeting and I was able to walk two of my favorite crafting friends and teammates (Kathy and Tammi) through the Floating Frame technique using the stamps from the April Paper Pumpkin kit, Sentimental Rose.

Now you can look up a bunch of videos on how to do this technique on YouTube.  I learned from this one.  And once I had it all designed for our meeting, I found this sample by Rachel Tessman so I switched from the Healing Hugs set to the Paper Pumpkin one.

For my card, I started by giving them each two 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock scored in half.  Then a 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece that isn't scored to use for the stamping.  Finally, I gave them a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece to use at a matting template for the images.

The first step is to stamp the images on the 5 1/2  x 8 1/2 piece of white cardstock.  I used Gorgeous Grape for the Rose and Granny Apple Green for the leaves.  Then you cut them out and arrange them on the 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of Whisper White.

Next you take a piece of Press and Seal and lay it over your images.  Press firmly enough for it to grip the images. Cut around the template and remove the cardstock from the back.  Lay on the Big Shot and cut out the 4th largest rectangle from the center.

Remove from the Big Shot and pop out the center.  Turn them over and add dimensionals to the white side of the images on both pieces.

Remove the backings of the dimensionals and add to the folded Whisper White card.  You can do this best by lining up the corners.

Turn your card over and carefully pull off the Press and Seal wrap.  Go slow - this may remove a small amount of ink or tear the paper if you go too fast.

Stamp the saying on the inside of your frame.  Stamp on the scrap of white (that you used for stamping) and cut out that saying with the rectangle and add to the card with dimensionals. I added some rhinestones to fill in the holes.

Cool, eh?  Yet again, Paper Pumpkin provides me with what I need to be successful in stamping!

Next month's kit was designed by Shelli and screams her personal style.  The kit includes 12 mailable cards (3 cards of 4 designs), plus ink and stamps, for only 19.95 (plus tax).  That is an incredible deal.  Plus subscribers will get their alternative ideas from me and can get a free 2019-2020 catalog.  If you'd like a sneak peek in to the kit, click the video below!

If you want to sign up for next month's kit, please sign up by May 10th using this link:   https://mypaperpumpkin.com/en/?demoid=80380

April 2019 Alternative Paper Pumpkin Ideas - Sentimental Rose

I am always telling people that Paper Pumpkin is how I keep my creativity going when my life is full of kid commitments.  We get so busy running them from activity to activity, all while making sure that we have the fundamentals for food, clothing, and shelter taken care of as well.  It's the wonderful and exhausting part of parenting.  So when this month's Paper Pumpkin showed up yesterday, I opened it and immediately started working on it. While my kids designed riddles for their make-believe escape room, I went ahead and escaped into this kit.

The samples that came with the kit were beautiful and fun. I love it when they aren't hard to do as it lets me feel productive without having a lot of time!  This kit included a stamp set with the big rose and leaves plus every sentiment we need for card making (happy birthday, best wishes, thinking of you, thank you, congratulations, and even happy mother's day).  There is also a mystery stamp - I'm still not sure what it's for!  The ink was Gray Granite, one of my favorite neutrals, and the kit came with supplies to make 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs, plus a gift box for them.

If my mother and mother-in-law didn't already subscribe, I would have made this one and given them to them as a gift. I also could have used it for Teacher Appreciation Day but I'm keeping this one.

Here are the samples from the kit using the instructions provided by Stampin' Up!

Now my subscribers get alternative ideas from me with step by step instructions.  I had so much fun making the notecards that I only brought out my paper trimmer and scissors and a few extra notecards from my stash so I could cut up the cards from the kit.  Sorry for the bad photography on some of these!

Then I expanded and brought some coordinating ink pads.

Finally, I cut a few Whisper White standard cards, a little extra cardstock, a dauber, and my Mint Macaron and Calypso Coral Blends.

This was my favorite kit to date because it let me PLAY and was very forgiving.  I loved how you could stamp the rose in a color and then re-ink lightly in the Gray Granite ink and make it pop off the paper.  I loved that you could stamp it lightly in Gray Granite and then color with Blends or a water color look.  And I love that you could make so many different cards using a single stamp set.

February Paper Pumpkin Samples - Be Mine Valentine

Well it's easy to tell when Girl Scouts took priority over all things since it's been four months since I've posted to my blog.  So just wanted to hop in quickly as I step away from Girl Scout Cookie sorting to show a few samples that I made up using the Be Mine Valentine February Paper Pumpkin kit.  This kit was adorable and full of die cut images that made my heart sing.  I loved how they would work for my kids' valentines but also worked for gift cards for teachers and proved to be perfect for cute quick cards.

Here are a few of the projects I've come up with for this kit.  Special call out to Rachel Tessman for inspiration and Tammi Verbarendse for sharing her ideas with me to get the ideas flowing.  I love being part of a community that shares inspiration and creativity so freely!
