Sale-a-Brate with Mini Envelope Books

The final project from my envelope punch board class is this cute hanging envelope holder.  I have been obsessed with making a version of this with the punch board since I bought it.  I created one last year with the Sent with Love Simply Sent Kit but liked the idea of using various Sale-a-Bration products in a single fun sample. 

The envelopes are 3 x 4 and you can get 4 out of a 12 x 12 sheet since you start with a 6 x 6 square of DSP.  In this case, it's a piece of Sweet Sorbet DSP.  Follow the grids on the Envelope Punch Board to make the envelopes and layer them over each other.  The inserts are 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 so you can get 4 of them out of a 1/2 sheet of cardstock.

First thing I taught was how to make these fun fringe flowers.  In this case, I put a magnet on the back, adhered with Crystal Effects, to hold the album on the wall.  To make the flower, take a piece of designer paper, any size really, and put a strip of adhesive on the bottom. Fold over but do not score or you will have a very sharp petal on your flower instead of a loop.  Once adhered, use the fringe scissors and cut to about 1/2 inch.  Then put adhesive on the unfringe portion and roll.  This flower was a 10 x 2 piece.

I wanted to show the My Digital Studio (MDS) product as well as the stamp sets and accessories from the brochure.  In this first envelope, I used the Decorative Dots stamp from the MDS download and colored it Pistachio Pudding.  Then I printed it on Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with my Banner Punch.  It's stapled on a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe.  I also did one in Crisp Cantaloupe and punched those out with the Banner Punch.  Since I didn't get the You're Lovely stamp set, I used the MDS version to cut out and layer on another piece of DSP from the Sweet Sorbet DSP and put the banners behind it.

The second envelope has a tab directly from the Banner Blast stamp set in Crisp Cantaloupe and is punched out with the Banner punch.  The little banner on the bottom is done with the MDS Decorative Dot image and it's scored twice to create an elevated banner.  The flower on it is from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack.  I colored the cork with the fat tip of the Crisp Cantaloupe marker to pull it into the color combo.  Please note: If you use this cork, it's beyond sticky so where it rests is where it will stay..... :) You have been warned!

The third envelope leverages the Summer Starfruit Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack.  The rest of the Pistachio Pudding Decorative Dots was punched out with the Decorative Label framelit and then I did the See Ya Later in Basic Black in MDS and punched that out again with a framelit.  The banner is another piece of Sweet Sorbet DSP hooked to the top of the Crisp Cantaloupe insert.

Sale-a-Brate with Boxes

Today the sun finally peeked through the inversion and my daughter asked me if it was summer again.  It's still cold but at least it's not that depressing gray color that even gets to me after a while and three weeks is definitely a while!  Maybe this means a little mojo will come back since I won't be staring outside at clouds and the like.

Today's project is another from my envelope punch board class.  This idea was completely lifted from this video that I found through my late, can't sleep since baby is moving around like a boxer, nights on Pinterest.  The link to the video tutorial is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE7PjcixJGc.

 

I started with a 12 x 12 sheet of paper to make the first box out of Sale-a-Bration paper.  I like this Pistachio Pudding DSP that comes with the Sweet Sorbet DSP, exclusively offered during Sale-a-Bration.  This box has a bow made out of scraps which was detailed in yesterday's blog post.  I used the very versatile Perfect Pennants stamp set and Pistachio Pudding ink and layered on Crumb Cake.  I also used the Chalk Marker to highlight on the circle.

To make the 12 x 12 box:

• align one corner of the paper at 3" - rotate and punch again so you have all four corners.
• Flip paper and repeat at each 3" so you have two slots on each corner.
• Flip back over to 1st side and line up against score line and score the corners - this creates your box lid.
• Fold along the score lines.
• Push in the two sides to make them fold in and use bone folder to make sharp crease.
• Adhere with sticky strip - use a paper piercing tool to peel the tape backing off!  
• If you have a little space at the top, seal with a glue dot in each corner.  This might be an OCD step but I am the Overly Critical Demonstrator when it comes to my own project.

 

To keep the box closed, attach the layered piece to the top flap with a dimensional and put a dimensional on the bottom as well but do not remove the backing.  This way, when you put something in the box, you can peel that back off and close the box up!

I actually did this box first.  The paper for this box was cut down to 11 x 11 so that there was a strip to use to make the bow in the same color (which I obviously didn't realize until after I'd already made the daffodil one!)  This box is still scored at 3" so it just makes it a little shorter but the same width.

Sale-a-Bration with Bows

Last night I had a demonstrator workshop at a hostess's house that featured the Envelope Punch Board.  This great product is not in our catalog but is available for purchase and is a great way to work your way towards a $50 order during this promotion to get free Sale-a-Bration merchandise!

At the end of the workshop, they threw me a surprise baby shower.  I swear, this group never ceases to amaze me.  They didn't realize how much we love elephants and sock monkeys and they bought little Michael some of both. It was very sweet, like the wonderful caramel cheesecake we ate afterwards!

During the workshop, we covered how to make envelopes, boxes, and bows with the Envelope Punch board that I will post during the rest of the week.  The make and take from the workshop was a really adorable card which featured the following Sale-a-Bration products:

To make the bow:

• 6 x 1 piece - Put into the envelope punch board with the 6" side touching the ruler.  Place the end in the middle of the envelope punch button.  Move to 3" and punch again.  Put the other end in the middle of the envelope punch button.  Turn the DSP over and repeat these three steps.  Put a glue dot on each end and fold into the center.
• 3 1/2 x 1 piece - Place the 1" end under the punch button.  To center, line up with the straight edge on the grid of the board.  Turn over and do again.  Then put the 3 1/2 side against the ruler and line up on the 1 3/4" mark.  Punch the board and turn over.  Repeat this punch at 1 3/4.  Put a glue dot in the center and layer the first piece on top.
• 1 x 1/4 piece - Put a glue dot on each end of this piece and wrap around the other bow pieces.

To finish the card:

• Attach the Basic Black and Pool Party cardstock to the folded Whisper White card with adhesive.
• Layer the DSP to the coordinating piece of Basic Black cardstock and attach to the card with adhesive in the center.
• Ink up the saying of your choice with the fat tip of the Basic Black marker.  Huff & stamp on the piece of Whisper White.  Layer on the coordinating piece of Basic Black and attach to the card using adhesive.
• Attach the bow to the card using a dimensional.
