Happy Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day.  Not just because it's all about love and red and telling people that you love them and sweet things.  I love that it's easy.  I love that my inspiration is always in full force because when you are making something out of love, you don't overthink it.  You just make something, stand back, and do a fist pump!

Each year I hide several little love notes around the house for my husband.  He's not a big romantic but he has a box where he keeps all the cards.  This morning I was late to the "getting up" game and I loved seeing his eyes sparkle a little bit when I clumsily tried to sneak the first card by his coffee.  He will find the others in his car, in his laptop work bag, and then one more when he gets home and goes to pour himself a Valentine's Day beverage.

These are the cute notes with envelopes that he's receiving.  I love our Envelope Punch Board because it allows us to make adorable little envelopes for love notes using only a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 piece of paper.  A perfect use for our 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stacks.  I already shared one of these sets a few days ago but here is the other set using the Sending Love DSP and the Lift Me Up Bundle.

Love notes are perfect for using scraps.  Plus they look like a lot of effort was made when they are actually very quick.

I also made this card for him.  I was referred by Heidi W. to a video from Jill Olsen about a 12 x 12 scrap card.  You can see the cool video HERE.  I have made several of these lately using different kinds of paper.  They all turn out adorable!

The measurements are 12 x 5 1/2.  You score at 4 1/4, 7 1/4, and 10 1/4.  The DSP pieces are 5 3/8 x 1 5/8, 5 3/8 x 2 7/8, and 5 3/8 x 1 3/8.  The rest is just stamping and assembling.  The belly band can be whatever you'd like.  Mine is 1 x 9.

I tried to copy Jill's card almost exactly but then I had to use my Stitched Shapes Framelits and then it just went from there.  The final card has wallet sized photos and love quotes I've been collecting all year.  I am very verbal with my husband - I never want him to doubt how much I love or appreciate him.  So I don't feel like quotes is cheating - more just letting him know that my words or not, he's an amazing husband and father!

Supplies (for the accordion card):
  • Cardstock/DSP: Whisper White, Real Red, Sending Love DSP Stack, Red Glimmer Paper
  • Ink: Real Red
  • Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • Accessories: Lace Doilies, Sweetheart Punch, Big Shot, Cutting Mats and Platform, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Tear and Tape, Adhesive, Triple Banner Punch, Dimensionals

Sending Love and Valentines

Tis the season for Valentines and Stampin' Up! has a great product line just for that.  Have you seen all the Sending Love products?  My favorite is actually the Mini Paper Clip Combo Pack.  This little babies are so versatile and the three neutral colors will go with any project.

But I'll sell them up a different day since today I'm sharing a project I didn't use them on!

These two love notes were made for my class this weekend.  Anyone that paid in advance for their seat will find these two babies waiting for them to stamp and assemble.  The stamp set I used, along with the little hearts, are from the January 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit, Adoring Arrows.  I love these sentiments and they go perfectly with the notes!

After you run the heart framelit through the Big Shot, you mount a 3 x 3 piece of Sending Love paper on a 6 x 3 Whisper White love note.  Then you mount the big heart with adhesive and the little heart with a dimensional.  The other card has you laying 6 strips (3 x 1/2) of Sending Love DSP on the front of the Whisper White card and then mounting the frame of the heart on the card with dimensionals in the four corners.  Then you mount your white heart on (after it's stamped and dried) with a dimensional in the left corner.  You can make adorable envelopes for these love notes with the other DSP in the pack since a Love Note envelope is made from a 5 1/4 square!  Enjoy!

Going Places, Going and Gone

The hardest part about retired lists are seeing some of you favorite products gone for good.  And it's really difficult when you know you are a craft supply hoarder and you are afraid to use it when you go it.  I'm really working to stop my hoarding and share what I love with those I love so this project applies to both goals.

These little love notes were created for my husband.  Every year for Valentine's Day, I make little notes and hide them so that he can find them at home and work through the day.  Since the holiday fell on Saturday, I enlisted my daughter to help me hide them in places he likes to go.  I about died when she put the first one on the toilet seat!  :)

These cards are all 6 x 3 and folded in half to make a typical love note size.

Callie also made one for her dad.  Isn't it cute?

Supplies
  • Cardstock: Going Places DSP Stack (retiring), Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
  • Ink: Memento Black
  • Stamp Sets: Going Global (retiring)
  • Accessories: 2" Circle Punch, 2 1/2 Circle Punch (retiring), 1" Circle Punch, Delightful Dijon 1" Dotted Trim (retiring), Home for the Holidays Enamel Dots (retired), gold thread, dimensionals, scissors, and adhesive

The 6 x 6 pages work great with our envelope punch board to make great envelopes to go with these cards!

His final present was a shadow box using scraps of paper on the glass and my favorite stamp from the Going Global stamp set.  My husband, an engineer by day and musician by night, is a little figety so I put a surprise in there.  I punched out a bunch of hearts using our small heart punch and wrote 831 on many of them - our code for "I love you".  So now he can shake the frame when he needs an outlet and be showered in love.  :)

RETIRED LIST
