August 2016 Paper Pumpkin Samples - Bold Botanicals

Today I'm sharing my alternate projects featuring the August 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit, Bold Botanicals.  This kit was like a clown car - things just kept pouring out of it!  We had a beautiful and versatile stamp set, an Early Espresso ink spot, supplies to make 6 cards and 3 gift card holders, plus burlap ribbon and Early Espresso twine and adhesive.  All of that, plus shipping, for $19.95 plus tax.

This is the set of projects that came with instructions in the kit.  The color combo was quite unique but it grew on me the more I worked on my projects.

I came up with two additional gift card holder ideas. I love the way this set lends itself to the coloring book trend that is so hot right now!

This is an envelope folded in half with a ribbon belly band!

I also created five alternative card ideas using a few extra pieces of adhesive and the Flourish Thinlits.

Since I had my markers out, I liked outlining the wood elements with the Cajun Craze marker to make them blend with the card a little better.

My subscribers get step by step instructions and dimensions for these projects.

November Paper Pumpkin Ideas

Well the head cold fairy has visited our house and left Callie and I with the sniffles and ear aches.  We were bound to get colds this winter but I'm hoping for a short shelf life on these since a sick prego mom that can't take anything isn't a really good caretaker for a toddler that refuses to slow down and rest!

But while she plays with pillows and builds a fort out of our laundry hamper, I thought I'd take on a less messy approach and finish up some samples with the November Paper Pumpkin kit.  Since everything you need comes with the kit, it is easy to create and then put everything back in that wonderful orange box!

THE KIT

 

 

This kit came with supplies for four cards, envelopes, star garland, Real Red Stampin' Spot, and a stamp set with a small star and the saying of "Wishing you a Merry Christmas." 

 

 

I created four projects with the supplies and a few others from my craft cave and was only left with two strings of star garland at the end to use on scrapbooking and birthday cards!

 

PROJECT 1

 

 

This project is the card that is outlined in the instructions.

The NOEL banners in this kit are die cut.  After making the first card, I used the scrap that the banner was cut from and traced it twice on the inside of one of the cards.  I cut those out and it gave me the two side banners I needed.  The garland is adhered with glue dots and will be used to hang it.  Then I used the NOEL banner to cover the saying with a photograph of my family that I had left over from my scrapbooking exploits last week.  The strips of diagonal lines are cut from what is left over after cutting out the banners!

The Merry was inked up using the stamp spot and stamped on the bottom where I created a fingerprint accidentally!

To do the side banners, I utilized our great On Film Framelits and the Yippee Skippee set that we received at Convention!  A few tricks for this set - use wax paper between the framelit and the cardstock to allow for easy removal.  If you don't have wax paper, you just need to poke out the big holes with your paper piercing tool and then poke the little squares or the circles in the die to pop it out of the framelit.

Since I had out the On Film Framelits, I used one on the banner and draped the star garland at the bottom.  Then the saying that was punched out by the framelit is up on dimensionals and to the side.  The saying is stamped on the inside.

Looking at what I had on the table, I realized I could create a really cute Thank You card.  This utilizes the film strip and the arrow from the On Film Framelits and the scraps from the banner card.  I cut the big arrow in half so that it could come out each end of the framelit.  It's a little off center because I put the saying on the framelit and decided to move it which ripped the cardstock a little and I had to cover that up!
