Going, Going, Gone for 2017

The retired list is always one of the saddest times of the year.  It shows me all the great products we are saying goodbye too and also reminds me of the things I didn't use yet in my camps and for my cards.  When the retired list comes out, you have until May 22nd to be guaranteed the stamp sets on the list. After that they will stop producing them and they will retire on May 31st.  All tools and accessories are while supplies last until May 31st.

Now remember, there are some icons to pay attention to on the list.  ** means the bundle is retiring but not the stamp set or framelits.  There is an icon for product being reconfigured and also an icon that product is being modified.  Some items are also on sale so when you check out the list, those sale items will show a red price.  Some items are up to 50% off!

Below are my top 10 products I will miss as they retire.
  1. Watermelon Wonder & Mint Macaron everything - I never did figure out how to pronounce the second one correctly, but I will miss these two colors a lot.  I think Mint Macaron was a great accompaniment to so many other colors and Watermelon Wonder is such a vibrant color.  I'm glad I stocked up on cardstock and refills for these since I will still use them in my personal crafting.
  2. Project Life - While I never did figure out how to do a scrapbook class with this product, I did really enjoy the classes I took from other demonstrators like Ronda Wade using this product.  I will still use all my stockpiled cards and pocket pages to scrapbook my pre-kid life but know that the replacement product for this line will be something fun to play with!
  3. Tin of Cards Project Kit - This product is on sale for 30% off and you get the tin and supplies to make 16 cards.  Now the stamp set is sold separately but you can use the old Tin of Cards stamp set or you can use something you have on hand to complete this great kit.
  4. Kraft Cardstock - I'm glad I just ordered this for my scrapbooks.  The 12 x 12 paper is great for cards and bags and envelopes.
  5. Crumb Cake Notecards and Envelopes - My Paper Pumpkin subscribers know I use these religiously with my kits so I'll be sad to see this option discontinued.
  6. Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper - This watercolored fruit paper just makes me smile.  I loved creating my projects with it and wish it was sticking around for another year. Especiall since I had a class prepped for it that I never taught!
  7. Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder - I used this one on everything.  I think they will have a good replacement since they always excel on the embossing folders but I really enjoyed this one with all my birthday projects!
  8. Fringe Scissors - Callie will be sad to know we can't replace the scissors if Michael breaks them. These scissors were great for adding grass and details to cards.
  9. Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly Punches - I loved using these with the kids since the Big Shot dies are sometimes hard for little arms and hands.  Vellum butterflies will be missed by me!
  10. And finally, the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I will miss this as much as my Watermelon Wonder.  This stamp set added a special splash to every project and I see a lot of white space to ponder in my future.

What are you the saddest to see go?

Fancy Folds for Spring

Just hopping in to share two of the fancy fold cards I'm teaching on April 22nd.  These cards are paired up with simple cards using the same stamp sets and papers to offer two different ideas for each group of products.

These two cards were based on designs by Ronda Wade that were shared via Creative Corner.  Come back tomorrow to view the cards I made to accompany them.

The first uses the Balloon Adventures stamp set and the Party Animal Designer Series Paper.

Check out how to make it here:

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Pacific Point, Emerald Envy, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Party Animal DSP
  • Ink: Emerald Envy and Pacific Point
  • Stamp Set: Balloon Adventures
  • Big Shot: Big Shot, Magnetic Platform and Cutting Pads, Stitched Shapes Framelits
  • Accessories: Balloon Punch, Crumb Cake Marker, Adhesive, Dimensionals, Tear and Tape

The second card features the Cool Treats suite which is my absolute favorite, though I'm pretty sure I call it Tasty Treats all through the video.

See how I made it here:

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Tasty Treats DSP

March 2017 Paper Pumpkin Samples - Bunny Buddies

It's Spring Break here in Boise but that just gives me more time to create with Callie and take away the scissors and such from Michael.  Yesterday he tried to eat an ink pad so I guess I have to watch him around those too now!

But I wanted to slip in here while the kiddos are eating breakfast to post my first round of samples featuring the Bunny Buddies stamp set from the March Paper Pumpkin.  This stamp set filled a void in my collection.  I needed a spring and Easter set but didn't find inspiration in our offerings.  Leave it to Paper Pumpkin to get a hop in my step in time for Easter.

Here are the adorable samples from the kit.  You had supplies to make 9 bags and 9 notecards with envelopes.  I had a party on Saturday where the hostess made them up for her guests and they all loved them!  So even if you think sometimes that a kit is for kids, remember that we are all kids at heart when we craft!

Here are the additional samples.  I sent a project idea sheet with these images and step by step instructions and tips.

Use your string and glue dots to make a fun center to a flower and use the bunny ears for the petals.

Cut your notecards apart and use them for layering on full sized cards.

Layer multiple patterns together to make bunny ears!

Every one of my subscribers gets a card in the mail too using the stamp set and supplies from the kit.  If you want to join that party, you can sign up for Paper Pumpkin below and I'll add you to my card mailing list!

Birthday Thanks

So that happened.  On Tuesday, I crossed over into the next decade.  I'm looking forward to the 40s - they seem like the decade where you can celebrate because you are stable.  I look at my life and feel honored.  I have my family, my health, my financial security, my home.  I have my friends and my business and my mind.  I have aspirations that I can see strive for and successes each time I look at my kids.  I am honored and grateful.

For my birthday, I went to the spa and used the gift certificate my wonderful husband gave me last year for a massage, pedicure, and manicure.  It was heavenly.  I wanted to send a thank you card to the folks that helped make my birthday so happy and memorable and lucky me, I sell a stamp set just for that.  Plus I can use the same one for my family!

For this card, I used the Cupcakes and Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack.  This card is super simple and fast to make because I wanted to leave time to write a heartfelt note on the inside.  I love that you can use the larger images to punch out smaller images like the balloon.  Can you tell it's a Ferris wheel?  I also love that you can flip the string in the Balloon Adventures stamp set and get two different looking strings from the same stamp!

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Very Vanilla, Pool Party, So Saffron, Cupcakes and Carousels DSP Stack
  • Ink: Early Espresso
  • Stamp Set: Balloon Adventures, All Things Thanks
  • Accessories: Balloon Punch, Triple Banner Punch, Dimensionals, Adhesive

February 2017 Paper Pumpkin Samples - Many Happy Birthdays

It's time to share the February Paper Pumpkin samples.  My subscribers receive a detailed project sheet with instructions on these projects and a kit in the mail to make at least one of them or another unique idea using the stamps and ink from the kit.  If you are interested in signing up and joining my Paper Princesses, just visit https://mypaperpumpkin.com/en/?demoid=80380.

This month's kit included a great word-based stamp set and two ink spots in Island Indigo and Flirty Flamingo (a 2016-2018 In Color).  The kit included supplies to make 9 gift card holder cards with envelopes in 3 different patterns.  You stamp in the window and then pull down the insert and find the gift card hooked to the bottom.  Super cool idea.  I think they are adorable and my daughter has enjoyed making them with me for her friends too since we all know how kiddos love candles and gift cards!

I think this stamp set lends itself to a lot of great ideas.  As I always tell my customers, you can make cards out of any kit if you have notecards and envelopes on hand like this one!  This is using the Crumb Cake Notecard and Envelope.

I also cut the envelope and insert down to make this fun holder.

I saw a pin on pinterest for a card like this and changed the dimensions so that a cut up card would fit on the left panel.  This is the card my customers will get to make on their own using their stamp sets and ink.

I also liked that you could use scraps from cut up cards and ink up just a single shape to stamp around like I would do if I used sequins on the card.

Happy Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day.  Not just because it's all about love and red and telling people that you love them and sweet things.  I love that it's easy.  I love that my inspiration is always in full force because when you are making something out of love, you don't overthink it.  You just make something, stand back, and do a fist pump!

Each year I hide several little love notes around the house for my husband.  He's not a big romantic but he has a box where he keeps all the cards.  This morning I was late to the "getting up" game and I loved seeing his eyes sparkle a little bit when I clumsily tried to sneak the first card by his coffee.  He will find the others in his car, in his laptop work bag, and then one more when he gets home and goes to pour himself a Valentine's Day beverage.

These are the cute notes with envelopes that he's receiving.  I love our Envelope Punch Board because it allows us to make adorable little envelopes for love notes using only a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 piece of paper.  A perfect use for our 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stacks.  I already shared one of these sets a few days ago but here is the other set using the Sending Love DSP and the Lift Me Up Bundle.

Love notes are perfect for using scraps.  Plus they look like a lot of effort was made when they are actually very quick.

I also made this card for him.  I was referred by Heidi W. to a video from Jill Olsen about a 12 x 12 scrap card.  You can see the cool video HERE.  I have made several of these lately using different kinds of paper.  They all turn out adorable!

The measurements are 12 x 5 1/2.  You score at 4 1/4, 7 1/4, and 10 1/4.  The DSP pieces are 5 3/8 x 1 5/8, 5 3/8 x 2 7/8, and 5 3/8 x 1 3/8.  The rest is just stamping and assembling.  The belly band can be whatever you'd like.  Mine is 1 x 9.

I tried to copy Jill's card almost exactly but then I had to use my Stitched Shapes Framelits and then it just went from there.  The final card has wallet sized photos and love quotes I've been collecting all year.  I am very verbal with my husband - I never want him to doubt how much I love or appreciate him.  So I don't feel like quotes is cheating - more just letting him know that my words or not, he's an amazing husband and father!

Supplies (for the accordion card):
  • Cardstock/DSP: Whisper White, Real Red, Sending Love DSP Stack, Red Glimmer Paper
  • Ink: Real Red
  • Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • Accessories: Lace Doilies, Sweetheart Punch, Big Shot, Cutting Mats and Platform, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Tear and Tape, Adhesive, Triple Banner Punch, Dimensionals

Sunday Mornings with Crazy Hair

Oh how I love Sunday mornings.  There are usually no obligations to get us up early. We can all wake up on our own schedule and have a nice family breakfast and just relax.  This does assume we all get up around the same time and not having one of the kids shoot out of bed at 7am.

This card was from my workshop on Saturday and reminds me of Sunday mornings.  The crazy hair on this bird is how I'd love to wear mine all day every day but I think the other moms during school pickup would have some judgements on that one and Callie might be a wee bit embarrassed!

If you like this stamp set, you have to earn it during Sale-a-Bration, which lasts through March 31st!

For this card, I just put a 6 x 1 strip of the Urban Underground DSP on the top and bottom of the folded Crumb Cake card.  Then we trimmed off the ends and set them aside.  The middle piece is embossed using the Hexagon Dynamic embossing folder (this thing is AMAZING) and added to the center of the card.  Stamp the saying carefully so you don't get borders, cut the end, and add to the card using adhesive.  The bird is stamped in Archival Black ink and punched using the Stitched Shapes Framelits (swoon - using them on everything!)  Color him with the Delightful Dijon marker.  Add the two little scraps of DSP to the top and add the paper clip.  Then tie the black twine into a bow.  Mount the bird to the card using dimensionals.

Thank you to Kimberly Van Diepen for the idea of using this bird with the Urban Underground DSP and hexagon folder - from there the creativity just took flight.... Get it?

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Urban Underground DSP
  • Ink: Memento Black ink
  • Stamps: Hey Chick (SAB)
  • Accessories: Accessories: Big Shot, Cutting Mats & Platform, Stitched Shapes, Adhesive, Mini Paper Clip Combo Pack, Basic Black Twine, Hexagon Dynamic TIEF, Delightful Dijon  Marker, Adhesive, Dimensionals, Scissors
