Spring into the Occasion - Beautiful You

Sorry for being MIA - my son has decided that my time is all his time so every time the laptop opens, he either wants to watch Story Bots on Netflix or color on it.

This weekend I'm teaching two classes.  One is a private Sip and Stamp class.  I love these because everyone has a good time no matter what the projects are.  That kind of energy that this group has is contagious.  I'm also teaching Saturday morning to some of my favorite customers and doing a step by step teaching camp to see how they respond to that style.

These two projects feature the Beautiful You stamp set and Falling in Love paper.  Now many of the items on these cards is already gone but the camp was prepped before that happened.  I will sure miss this paper and these embellishments and also the lace doilies.

This first cards is the fancy fold card.  It was inspired by this video from Jill Olsen.

Spring into the Occasions - More Camp Cards

Today I wanted to share a few of the other camp cards I'm teaching in April.  I already shared the two fancy fold cards a few days back.  These are the "traditional" cards that will accompany those fancy folds.  I wanted my crafting friends to see that there were complex and straightforward ideas for our stamp sets and papers. 

For this first one, I was inspired by a brief view of Tami White.  She showed how you get the light background on the patterned balloons by stamping them off.  I took that one step further and stamped a solid Curry balloon first and then stamped it again.  Then I did the striped balloon second at full strength so it has two shades with one ink pad.  I also changed the final sample I'm teaching to use the largest square Stitched Shape Framelit for the Whisper White piece.

The second sample features the Tasty Treats DSP and Cool Treats stamp set.  Excited to see this stamp set and framelit are sticking around even though the bundle and the paper is retiring, along with all the embellishments.  Don't miss out on this one either!  For the washi tape, I took a 3/8 strip of Whisper White and put the washi tape on it.  Then I mounted that on the card so the tape would show up brightly against the white.  A cool little trick whenever you are working with the washi tapes.

Keeping Birthdays Quick and Easy

When trying to name a card that is both quick and easy and perfect for the party animal in your life, you have to be very careful how you label the post....  Lesson learned!  Today's card is super fast and will work great for any gender because everyone loves cake, right? 

This is my ice breaker card for my workshop today.  I always try to have a straightforward warm up card to get everyone in the crafting mood.  For this card, you simply stamp the Designer Tee message on the Whisper White and punch it out using your Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I pre-stamped the Tangerine Tango cake so my ink pad wouldn't get the colors mixed.  My crafting friends cut that out and mounted it on the Whisper White.  Then you mount a piece of 3 x 4 Party Animal Designer Series Paper on Crumb Cake.  Add your stamped image in the center using dimensionals.  Add a 6" piece of the Sending Love Whisper White ribbon and adhere on the back of the Crumb Cake.  Then thread a second piece through the first and tie once and trim for the bow.  Add to the Tangerine Tango card using adhesive or dimensionals!

My Gorgeous Friend and Inspiration

Today's sample is actually yesterday's sample.  One of my dearest friends had a birthday yesterday.  We have been friends 15 years and have seen ourselves go from recent college graduates to wives to mothers.  We have had job changes, family challenges, and times when we didn't see each other at all because life just took hold of us.  She will always be one of my favorite people in the world and this was the card I created just for her.

Of course, now that her birthday helped me break through my creativity block on this Inside the Lines designer paper offered only during Sale-a-Bration, I can't stop thinking of all the ways it can be used for paper piecing.  This project uses the sheet with all the tiny flowers.  I wanted to teach with it in my class but I didn't want it to be a 30 minute card.  Now my customers and friends can experience watercoloring with this paper without moving into my house for the weekend!

You just stamp the woman's silhouette on the Whisper White and run it through the Big Shot using the Stitched Shapes framelits (seriously, what did I do before I bought these?!?!)  Then you mount that on the Basic Black and put that on a folded Whisper White card.  I stamped the saying on the strip of Whisper White and then tied a piece of the Silver/White Metallic ribbon (also a Sale-a-Bration offering) around the end. 

I colored the flowers and leaves using the Watercolor Pencils and then covered it with a little Clear Wink of Stella for a nice splash of bling.  For the second dress, I colored the background using the Daffodil Delight and then colored over that with the Calypso Coral pencil.

CASing Erica Cerwin - Flight of Fancy Fold

To close out my week's worth of posts using the Lift Me Up Bundle and Carried Away Designer Series Paper (only available through Sale-a-Bration), I am posting a card designed by Erica Cerwin.  Recently I took a Facebook class from her and this was the final virtual make-n-take she showed us. Get Carried Away

Today's card is one I showed during my online workshop last week.  I love how bright pieces of the Carried Away Designer Series Paper are and I really like how the balloon die works with Designer Paper.  Because it's thinner than cardstock, the little pieces practically fly out of it when you finish using it on the Big Shot.

I also like that you can use cardstock you don't like as much with these types of dies and it breaks up the pattern.  I like this DSP but have tried this same card with others I'm not so keen on and loved the results!

Watch the video to see the step by step instructions for this card, including a trick with the glue and the silicon mat on this intricate dies!  I am no longer offering the special described at the end but will continue to promote this bundle for the next two months because it is my favorite!

Inspired by Nature

At events like Onstage, they do a lot of giveaways.  This year we were each given a button in our bag with a letter on it.  My mom is one of those people who can figure out the end of a movie or book in the first 15 minutes so she figured out fast that the letters were spelling STAMP!  As the event headed towards the finish line, we realized our M button was the last giveaway.  We won a set called Swan Lake. 

Never to look a gift horse in the mouth, I was excited about winning a stamp set but wasn't sure what exactly I would do with it.  I don't really go for nature stamp sets.  However, I loved the sayings in the set and decided to start there. After all, thinking of someone is an important part of HUMAN nature. 

When I got home, I sat down to play with it and landed on this card which I adore. I think getting this one in the mail would make a person's heart happy and bring a smile to their face.  It's also a card that any level of stamper can do, which I forget to do sometimes!  The swan is stamped on the square of Serene Scenery DSP using Archival Black (dries before it smears!)  Then I stamped the swan on a scrap of Whisper White and cut it out. It's up on dimensionals to give the card extra depth.  Love how that shadow shows under it!

The inside of the card has my favorite part - the three little ducklings with the rest of the saying.  So cute.....

Then I wanted to see if I could use the stamp on the envelope to add a little extra special touch.  The address of the recipient would go in the middle there and I'd color the flowers with my markers or pencils.

Onstage Sneak Peek

This past weekend was Onstage, where demonstrators from around the world have an opportunity to meet up in several locations and share ideas and learn about the status of the company.  These events are exclusive to demonstrators and such a motivating and insightful experience.  We also got to find out who the top 100 demonstrators in the world were and it was a pleasure to see so many friends and role models in that list.

I was recognized this weekend for annual sales, annual recruiting, and also was able to walk across the stage for achieving my 100K career sales milestone.  It was exhilarating.  I look like a kid in a candy store in this photo because I'm that excited to be at this event!  And, as an added bonus, I got to experience all of this with my wonderful mother and fellow demonstrator in attendance which made it even more special.  I am so fortunate to have the best creative role model in the world for a mom!

We also got a lot of swag at this event which was cool.  We received a great notebook, canvas bag, set of pens, the Tasty Treats photopolymer stamp set, and what I think is a passport holder.  How's that for inspiration to hit my goal of the incentive trip - even if Alaska doesn't require a passport! 

We did four make-n-take projects using several product suites that we were able to also purchase as part of the Product Premiere.  I was able to pay for the event registration using my Flex points gathered from my sales last year so that left me even more dinero to spend on fun new products from the Occasions catalog.  Good thing too because there is a lot I love!

It was a great experience.  This Thursday I will be sharing all the information with my downline and doing two make-n-takes using items received at Onstage.  Even though you aren't part of my downline, I wanted to share these projects with you to give you a great peek at what is to come in this new catalog. 

Today I will share this first project which features the Sending Love DSP and the All Things Thanks stamp set.  We received a set of the Regals Enamel Dots as well so I used the Cherry Cobbler heart.  This project also features our new Stitched Shapes Framelits which really do add a special something to every card they are used on!
