Countdown to Christmas - Day 21

When I think quick and easy card, I go straight to washi tape.  It offers so much color and is so easy for little hands and big hands to use.  This quick notecard is a great way to make cards in mass and have them still have that homemade look!

Just run strips of washi tape on a 3 x 2 piece of Whisper White.  Wrap the ends around and mount on the center of the Crumb Cake Note card using dimensionals.  Then stamp the saying on a piece of 2 x 1 1/2 (or whatever size your saying is) and mount using dimensionals on the right and adhesive on the left.  I like to use Tear and Tape because washi tape can sometimes be slick and it always stays tight!  Then I tied a bow in Cherry Cobbler twine and attached with a glue dot.  This card would work for a present too for a birthday party or a baby shower or even a congrats.

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Whisper White (3 x 2, 2 x 1/2), Crumb Cake Notecard and Envelope
  • Ink: Cherry Cobbler
  • Stamp Set: Stitched with Cheer
  • Accessories: Warmth and Cheer Washi Tape, Baker's Twine Trio Pack, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Tear and Tape, and Scissors

Countdown to Christmas - Day 20

We are so close to the end of school and the excitement of both kids for Christmas is contagious!  I wish I could show you the amazing things Callie made for Christmas using our new watercolor pencils but at the risk of tipping off the grandparents, who may read this blog, we are going to keep those under wraps for a few more days!

Instead, I thought I'd share the hostess tags I made for the events we head to for the holidays.  I taught these on two separate occasions but the instructions are the same.  I'm so relieved that the Cheerful Tags Framelits are not retiring yet - they are so versatile and I really enjoy playing with them.  Depending on the paper you paired them with, they'd make a cute homemade touch to a bunco night, a baby shower, a birthday, a bbq, etc.

To start, take a 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 piece of Very Vanilla and run the Bottle Topper tag through the Big Shot with your magnetic platform and cutting mats.  Keep the circle that is punched out - you will use that for your Cheers stamp.  Then careful fold the tag on the score line at the top.  It's easier to work with these if you do that step first.

The first example utilizes the This Christmas DSP cut to 2 1/4 x 1 3/4.  I slipped the ribbon through the slots first (using around 14-18" depending on the ribbon type) and then attached a piece of Early Espresso (1 3/4 x 2 1/4) just adhering the sides so the ribbon slides.  Then I sponged the DSP and added a strip of our Candy Cane Lane Washi tape and attached with adhesive.  Stamp the cheer image from the Here's to Cheers stamp set and mount with dimensionals on a 1 3/8 Red Glimmer Paper circle. That is attached with Tear and Tape.

The other example just uses the Warmth and Cheer DSP instead so I swapped out the satin ribbon for the 5/8 Burlap, switched the ink to Crumb Cake, the cardstock to Cherry Cobbler and the glimmer circle to gold.  This one has a more rustic, drink this wine by the fire, sort of feel!

Countdown to Christmas - Day 10

Well today was interesting!  I thought I had brunch with two of my oldest and dearest friends to discover that we were supposed to meet NEXT Saturday instead.  So I drove back home in the sleet and rain to discover I needed to make a finger food for the next event of the day, which was really that day, so back to the store and then home so I could put kiddo in pigtails and head back out the door.

Life is so busy during the holidays but it's also so full of memories.  Today we made gingerbread houses which I will share tomorrow.  The pictures were awesome and the little card I got from my friend was truly one of my favorite snowman cards EVER!

But for today, I'm going to share another quick card.  This is a great card to do with leftover washi tape and twine.  You could alter it for other holidays and, yes again, my Stitched Shapes are making an appearance.  My friend Judy made this card and used the Falling Snow embossing folder which definitely filled up the white space beautifully.  But you get to see my sample.

      Supplies:
      • Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler (8 1/2 x 5 1/2), Whisper White (2 @ 5 1/4 x 4, scrap)
      • Ink: Cherry Cobbler
      • Stamp Set: My Hero
      • Accessories: Big Shot, Cutting Mats and Platform, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Warmth and Cheer washi tape, Baker's Twine Trio, Dimensionals, Scissors, Adhesive.

Countdown to Christmas - Day 9

Today's project is a fun gift card holder that you can make using our standard envelopes.  It's also another great way to use washi tape and leftover scraps.

I used the Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder (which means it's REALLY deep when you run it through the big shot) and put that on a half of a sealed standard envelope.  I use Tear and Tape to adhere it since it holds the best.  Then I layered a piece of Warmth and Cheer DSP using dimensionals and the smallest Stitched Shapes square as well.  Then I punched out some holly berries and stamped them using the Stitched with Cheer stamp set and Crumb Cake ink.

The top piece is the insert and I used the washi tape to hook the gift card on.  Enjoy!

        Supplies:
        • Cardstock/DSP: Crumb Cake (2 @ 4 1/4 x 2 3/4), Warmth and Cheer (3 x 1), White (2 x 2), Cherry Cobbler (scrap), Garden Green (scrap)
        • Ink: Crumb Cake
        • Stamp Set: Stitched with Cheer
        • Accessories: Big Shot, Cutting Mats and Platform, Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder, Holly Berry Builder Punch, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Scissors, Warmth and Cheer Washi Tape

Countdown to Christmas - Day 3

Yesterday I went to an ugly sweater Christmas party.  What did I wear, you ask?  Well, I printed out this free printable I found on Pinterest on Whisper White cardstock and gave one to each child (2 1/2 & 6) and had them decorate.  My son chose to do watercoloring.  My daughter chose markers.  My son did not care.  My daughter would be devastated to find out my sweater was for an ugly contest when she thought her work was beautiful.  Once I put them on the sweater, they actually kept giving me paper cuts on my arms - not a good look.  So I ended up making a felt Christmas tree and added twine bows and our jingle bells to it.

In addition to fun sweater photos, I put together a crafting kit for each attendee.  When the wonderful hostess asked me to put together a crafting kit that her guests could make that went with the theme, I was immediately hit with the Cable Knit dynamic embossing folder as an option because it looked like a sweater, even if it's not ugly!  What resulted was a kit full of fun projects featuring the Warmth and Cheer product line and the Stitched with Cheer stamp set.

I made this card for her camp and feel like it is super cozy indeed!  We chose to do notecards because they were the perfect size for quicker cards and I love that they come with cards and envelopes if anyone wanted to make their own version at home at a great cost!  This card about put the non-crafters over the edge but they all loved the final product once we walked them step by step through it!

          Directions:
          • Run the Garden Green cardstock through the Big Shot using the Platform, folder, and one cutting mat.  Add tear and tape to the top and bottom and attach to the Whisper White Notecard.
          • Make a banner end on the yellow strip of DSP and attach to the front with adhesive.
          • Attach the 2 x 2 square of patterned paper to the card using adhesive.
          • Stamp the saying in Garden Green ink on Whisper White and attach to the card using adhesive.
          • Add a small piece of green washi tape under the saying as shown.
          • Tie a bow in the 8" of Garden Green twine and attach to the card using a glue dot.  Trim the ends.
          Supplies:
          • Cardstock: Garden Green (4 3/4 x 3 1/4), Warmth and Cheer DSP (2 x 2, 4 1/2 x 1), Whisper White (2 x 1, notecard with envelope)
          • Ink: Garden Green
          • Stamp Set: Stitched with Cheer
          • Accessories: Big Shot with Platform and Cutting Mats, Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder, Baker's Twine Trio Pack, Warmth and Cheer Washi Tape, Glue Dots, Adhesive, Scissors
If you want to jazz it up or make a full size card, there is also this option which I taught Thursday to a small group.  Instructions are the same except you run a piece of Cherry Cobbler through the Big Shot with the 3rd largest square from the Stitched Shapes framelits to add a little pop of color behind the square of DSP.
