Waves of the Ocean Promotion

In March, I shared a set of samples using the Waves of the Ocean product suite that is currently available while supplies last.  So, to help you see how versatile all these products are together, I wanted to share a few additional cards that all leverage past Layouts of the Month.

My Layout of the Month kicks off with my virtual Mystery Monday on the first Monday of the month.  Those crafty friends joining me participate with what they have on hand.  I have them pre-cut and gather supplies in advance and then I lead them through the card step by step but WITHOUT a visual.  That way they can all see how the cuts will work in multiple ways.  Then I spend the rest of the month creating samples using the same cuts and assembly.

You can click the header above each photo for the layout information.

Please note: The Blue Foils and Rhinestones featured below are no longer available but you could substitute Silver Foil and Basic Rhinetones to get the same effect.  The Waves of the Ocean DSP is still available, as are the stamp set and dies. The stamp set and dies are in the new catalog.

Layout of the Month - March 2022

It's March and I've already turned another year old while falling another week behind!  I read an article about how people have 4000 weeks in their lives.  I know that none of you wasted one of yours waiting for me to catch up so I'm giving myself the gift of forgiveness for my birthday!

I'm also trying to spend my next year on the planet getting myself outside more and connected with nature and nurture thus the theme for this week's Mystery Monday.  The theme for this layout was Nature - so the card had to include something found in nature.

Supplies:

Stamps:

  • Sentiment & Image to stamp on a 2 ½ square or circle – even if some is cut off

Cardstock:

  • Card base (any color): 8 ½ x 5 ½  - scored at 4 ¼
  • White or Vanilla cardstock: 2 ½ die cut circle or a square
  • White or Vanilla cardstock: 3 3/4 x 1
  • Coordinating Cardstock #1: 5 ¼ x 4
  • Coordinating Cardstock #1: Layer for 2 ½ circle or a 2 5/8 square
  • DSP #1, Foil, or coordinating cardstock: 3 x 4
  • DSP #2: 1 ¼ x 3 1/2

Inks:

  • 2 colors to coordinate with your chosen stamp set and sentiment

Accessories:

  • Dimensionals
  • Adhesive of Choice
  • Embellishment of Choice

Instructions:

  1. Attach 5 ¼ x 4 piece of cardstock to the card base with adhesive.
  2. Attach the 3 x 4 paper piece to the card with adhesive.
  3. Stamp the sentiment on the strip of white or vanilla in ink #1 and attach to the card with adhesive.
  4. Add the 1 ¼ piece of DSP to the card with adhesive.
  5. Add the circle or square of coordinating cardstock to the card with adhesive.
  6. Stamp the image on the circle or square of white or vanilla within ink #1 or ink #2.
  7. Add the image to the card with dimensionals.
  8. Add your embellishments if desired.

Here is how my samples turned out.

Here are the wonderful samples that were made by my crafty friends in our virtual Mystery Monday (on Tuesday) event.  Please note that not all materials are available for purchase as participants are encouraged to use what they have in their stash to complete the challenge!

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - Botanical Cluster

I found a straggler - a card I forgot to post with my other alternatives featuring the February 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit - Safari Celebration!

If you don't like the die cut animals, you can still create great cards using the other die cuts in the kit.  Additionally, if you cut up the envelopes, you can also get some accents for the front of the cards that coordinate perfectly with the botanicals in the set.

In this card, I added in the Soft Succulent ink spot from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  I liked using two colors for the sentiment.  The little embellishments from the kit would look great on this too if I hadn't misplaced them.....

I hope you enjoy this one!

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - February 2022 - Safari Celebration

Everyone should celebrate their accomplishments, whether you are young or more experienced in life.  With this month's Paper Pumpkin kit, you can create occasion cards that let someone know they are amazing while making you smile as you create.

This card kit is a bit quirky.  When I sat down to make the cards, I was a bit skeptical.  I can openly admit that I have never made a card with a hula hooping monkey or a gazelle that looks like it walked into a party and forgot to duck.  But the Safari Celebration Paper Pumpkin kit was more fun than I anticipated.  The kit included supplies to make 9 cards (3 each of 3 designs) plus envelopes, an exclusive photopolymer stamp set, a Rich Razzleberry ink spot, instructions, and adhesive.  New subscribers also received a clear block in their first kit.  All you have to supply is a little time to yourself and scissors and you can be off and running to make fun cards and projects from your own home.

Here is what was in the kit.  Anyone receiving the kit can make these as designed by the Stampin’ Up! team.

I have a lot of a supplies and I always like combining my Paper Pumpkin kit with ink, paper, and tools to create my alternatives.  This kit featured several colors: Bumblebee, Fresh Freesia, Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Succulent, Soft Suede.

I added the following items to my supplies to create the alternatives below: Soft Succulent ink spot (from prior PP kit), Rich Razzleberry cardstock, Basic White notecards and envelopes, Stitched SO Sweetly Die Cuts, Stitched Rectangle Dies, and Cut & Emboss Machine.

I always start my alternatives by cutting up a set of card bases and envelopes if the kit allows.  This one does.

Below are my samples featuring the products and stamps in this kit. Some of these are inspired by past Layouts of the Month featured on this blog.

Additional samples tied to my Layout of the Month will post on the final Monday of the month!

Subscribers with me will get a tip sheet with step by step instructions for how to do these projects at home as well as an invitation to a virtual Zoom class on the last Monday of the month where I show how I made them.

I hope you all enjoy taking the time to create something for someone special in your life - like YOURSELF!

Layout of the Month - February 2022

This week my son is working on a market day presentation.  They are learning about goods and services and consumers and producers. While he rarely wants to talk about anything other than Roblox, the iPad, or what he's reading, he did take a lot of moments to talk about this project.  He made origami sumo wrestlers out of origami paper and then a box out of our retired River Rock cardstock with the Scoring Tool.  He's 7.  It was awesome.  When I told him that I ran my own business, he asked me what my slogan was.  I told him that it's "To share what we love and love what we do." He told me that was cool but wordy.  "You should say 'to make people feel good.'" I like that too.

So here I am with this month's Layout of the Month which is easy and hopefully makes you "feel good" when you make cards and makes others "feel good" when they receive them in the mail.

As usual, I kicked this month's layout off with Mystery Monday.  I've included my stamping friends' samples below.  Some of their materials may not be available any longer for purchase as I encourage them to raid their stash to do our event.  If you want to participate in next month's kickoff, just let me know.  I will send you the measurements and supply lists and you gather everything before we do the Zoom call.
