The holiday season is so much fun but so hectic at the same time. I really wanted to make holiday cards that could be done before the joy was gone or the needs of the kids came into play. So, I decided that this month's Layout of the Month would focus on SIMPLE while also showing fellow card makers how to make the most of our DSP.
As I've mentioned in the past, I kick off the month with Mystery Monday and then share not only the supplies and instructions but also my samples and those of my fellow card makers that attend my virtual class. Here is what you would need to play along with us on this layout.
Supplies:
Stamps:
- Sentiment of your choice - needs to fit on a 2 x 3 layer
Cardstock: Can use one color for both or two coordinating colors
- 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
- 3 x 2
Designer Series Paper or Specialty Designer Paper: must be doublesided
- 6 x 3
Tools and Accessories:
- 8-12" of ribbon
- 1 coordinating ink pad
- Dimensionals
- Adhesive
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Lay the 6 x 3 piece of DSP on your card to see where you want it to go - add adhesive to the CARD and attach your DSP.
- Trim off the excess.
- Turn that DSP scrap over and apply to the card with adhesive - now your card should have two patterns showing.
- Stamp your sentiment on the 3 x 2 piece.
- Tie your ribbon in a bow and attach to your sentiment with adhesive.
- Add the sentiment to the card with dimensionals.
Here are the samples I created for this card. The original card features the Peaceful Places DSP which is no longer available for ordering. It also features the Merriest Moments stamp set (which is available until 1/3/2021 and then again for the July-December 2022 catalog) and the black gingham ribbon (which will be available until the 2022 Annual Catalog launches).
Because the paper was unavailable, I also made a sample featuring the Gingerbread and Peppermint Suite. It uses the Gingerbread and Peppermint 6x6 DSP, Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set, and the Real Red Sheer Ribbon (all available while supplies last or until 1/3/2021). The card base and ink are Cinnamon Cider.
Here are the other samples created by those that attended my virtual workshop tonight. These workshops occur every first Monday of the month - I hope you can join us next month! Please note that not everything shown below is from Stampin' Up or currently available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to use things from their own stash to do these projects on Mystery Mondays.
