Eastern Beauty Flowers

Today's card features both incoming and outgoing products!  This card is made by overlapping the flower stamp twice and is a technique I saw online in this post by Julie DiMatteo.  I love the community of demonstrators out there!  While I love the new In Color of Lemon-Lime and Eastern Palace Specialty DSP that you can get in a special bundle below, I'm going to miss the cute and versatile In Color Enamel Dots that I used in the center of the flower.

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Very Vanilla, Lemon-Lime Twist (new), Dapper Denim, Eastern Palace Specialty DSP (new)
  • Ink: Lemon-Lime Twist, Dapper Denim
  • Stamps: Eastern Beauty
  • Accessories: 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Dots (retiring), Triple Banner Punch, Dimensionals, Adhesive

May 2017 Paper Pumpkin Samples - Sprinkled with Love

Hello everyone!  Today I'm sharing my alternative ideas for the May 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit - Sprinkled with Love.  Remember that those subscribing with me get a Project Sheet with step by step instructions for all these projects!  However, I do want to share a couple key tips that I found making these projects!

First, watch the SU! video for this before putting it together:

Additional Tips:
  • Put your stamps on the block and turn them stamp side up and ink then with the spot.  Do not put the ink on the table and press the stamps into them.  That is how you get the halos.
  • Make sure the seams of the cards are at the top for yours.  My samples are mostly sideways which will affect how the bows are tied.   It helps to knot twine first and then tie a bow.
  • When working with the icing, attach the top and bottom of the sticker and then it will lay back down flat.
  • These are standard envelope size so you can either put them in the envelope bags in the kit or you can mail them with a standard envelope.
  • You can cut up the bags.  I found it easiest to cut 1/4" off of one side and laying it out flat and then cutting what I needed.  Cut the flap off - it's  a great decorative piece to use.
  • There are a white and a vanilla side to the flowers.  My first sample shows white and it should have been vanilla flowers.
  • Don't forget that you can use the ink spot to just ink up certain words on the stamps.  This gives you more options with most of the stamps as you will see in my samples!
Now on to the samples!  This is the original project that came with the kit.  It contained supplies for 9 cards (3 of each design) plus envelope bags.  It came with a saying based stamp set and a Soft Suede ink spot.

Here are my alternative cards!

Card 1: Added the scallop to the side for the bite.

Card 2: Cut apart the bag and inked up just part of the stamp.

Card 3: Had to add Sprinkles to this one to make a shaker card.

Card 4: This card is based on a design by Jenny Peterson.  I switched the colors and the highlighted saying from her excellent sample!

Card 5: This card utilized the stickers in a different way.

Card 6: More playing with circle punches and our new Powder Pink In Color ink and cardstock.

Card 7: This card was designed by Leslie Benson.  You can see her video for making these awesome donuts HERE.  I changed my donut around a bit and some of the dimensions from her card but this card was the catalyst for most of my other creations.  Thank you Leslie!

Card 8: Use the sticker background to make a white frosting donut...

Card 9: This card is based on a design from Stampin' Up!  I layered my saying on the cut up bag flap and then cut a wavy pattern into my pink frosting to layer on the vanilla frosting piece (since I was out of card bases by now!)

Now here is my 3D idea for a gift card holder and mini card.  The mini card slides in the pocket of the envelope bag.  The bottom of the card uses the scrap from the circle and heart sticker sheet.  Ohs... get it?

And my personal favorite - a mini book with the bags.  I will make a video for this one when my refill arrives!  I inked up different words in the sayings to create my own sentiments like on the cover (didn't stamp Day) and some of the hearts through the book (combined the For You and With Love stamps.)  The inserts are 4 1/4 x 4 1/2 and contain 4 x 4 photos.  A great way to use the scraps leftover from making all the cards!

I hope you enjoyed these samples.  If you want instructions, just sign up for Paper Pumpkin with me and you can get my past project sheets and new ones for the upcoming kits! The link to sign up is below!

Watercolor Daisies and Memory Keeping

This year for the Daisy scrapbook, the Troop used our 6 x 8 pocket pages and envelopes and made an adorable album held together with O rings.  The girls are 6-7 years old so it was perfect for them to put the photos in the pockets and then decorate the additional elements with washi tape and designer papers.  It also let them work on their writing skills since they could actually journal on the Project Life cards.

Project Life does wonders to set children on the path to capturing their memories and scrapbooking.  They don't get caught up in the chronological order of things and they just have fun.  I can learn a lot about how easy scrapbooking can be from my daughter.

But I digress.  Today's post is about the books I made for the three ambassadors leading our troop.  They are the 6 x 8 Kraft Albums.  I wanted them to put the scrapbooks we made with the Daisy Troop inside of them.  Since all the Project Life supplies are retiring, we got a great deal for the 11 books we made and the three ambassador books I'm showing below.

I took a 2" strip of our Delightful Daisy DSP and put it on the left side with a 1" piece of Shimmer White.  Then I printed their names with the printer on Shimmery White and used the aquapainter to color them with Night of Navy ink.  I love the blue and purple look this gave them.  I stamped the cover using Night of Navy ink and Gorgeous Grunge.

Finally, I tried to make a Daisy like was in the DSP. It didn't quite turn out but it's still cute to me.  I punched two of them from the Shimmery White using the Daisy punch.  The secret to these flowers is to curl the edges a little with a pencil or paper piercing tool and then put a dimensional on the back of one.  Turn the flowers over so that you can layer the second one perfectly, leaving no space between the petals.  The center of the flower is a 1/2 circle punched from the Shimmery paper as well.  Then I colored it using the aquapainter and Daffodil Delight ink.

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Shimmery White, Delightful Daisy DSP (new)
  • Ink: Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight
  • Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge (retiring)
  • Accessories: Daisy Punch (new), Aquapainter, Dimensionals, Tear and Tape, 1/2 Circle Punch

From Delightful Daisies to Beautiful Brownies

This weekend Callie bridged from a Daisy to a Brownie for Girl Scouts.  We were very lucky to have our troop led by three ambassadors with their moms there to help.  These young women are seniors this year, graduating in just a few days, and they dedicated so much time to our little ladies. They came up with creative ways to teach the Daisy behaviors and have left a lasting impact.  Truly amazing role models for our little girls (and us as moms!)

These are the thank you notes that I made to give to our Troop leaders.  I loved getting a chance to play with the new Daisy punch and Delightful Daisy DSP.  That Tranquil Tide color is going to see a lot of mileage in my projects this year - it's gorgeous!

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Whisper White, Tranquil Tide (new), Delightful Daisy DSP (new)
  • Ink: Tranquil Tide (new)
  • Stamp Set: One Big Meaning
  • Accessories: Daisy Punch (new), 1/2 Circle Punch, Triple Banner Punch, Gold Faceted Gems (new), Glue Dots, Dimensionals
This is also one of my camp cards for my next class on June 24th.  I have five spots left for this class if anyone is interested - 6 cards for $15!  Come back tomorrow to see another project using this punch and paper!

Crazy About Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day so I will keep this one brief!  Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there and especially to my own.  I survive because of my village and my mother and mother in law both are great role models!  I love these peonies - they remind me of my mom (since I stole them from her house and because they are beautiful!)

As for today's project, this is a great way to use your 12 x 12 DSP.  I cut a piece of the Affectionately Yours DSP to 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 and used our Envelope Punch Board to make the envelope.  Inside is a set of Stitched Shapes Framelits for my mother in law!  Shhhh... don't tell!

For the card, I used the cool framelit from Window Box Thinlits (which are not retiring - thank goodness!) on a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 of Very Vanilla.  If you don't like the edge left by the framelit, just turn it over at this point.  Put adhesive all over the back and position the 3 x 3 piece of  the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper behind it.  Isn't that shiny and wonderful????  Add the whole piece to the folded Crumb Cake using adhesive.

Trim down one of the scraps from the envelope to 4 1/4 x 1.  Add to the front of the card using adhesive.  Take the 4 1/4 x 1 piece of Crumb Cake and make a banner end using the Triple Banner Punch.  Stamp with the Happy Mother's Day saying in Crumb Cake ink.  Then tie off a 8" piece of 1/4 Vanilla Satin Ribbon to the end of the banner and trim using your scissors.

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Affectionately Yours DSP (retired), Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper (retiring)
  • Ink: Crumb Cake
  • Stamp Set: Crazy About You (retiring)
  • Big Shot: Cutting Mats, Magnetic Platform, Window Box Thinlits
  • Accessories: Very Vanilla 1/4 Satin Ribbon (retiring), Triple Banner Punch, Adhesive, Dimensionals, Scissors
