Watercolor Daisies and Memory Keeping

This year for the Daisy scrapbook, the Troop used our 6 x 8 pocket pages and envelopes and made an adorable album held together with O rings.  The girls are 6-7 years old so it was perfect for them to put the photos in the pockets and then decorate the additional elements with washi tape and designer papers.  It also let them work on their writing skills since they could actually journal on the Project Life cards.

Project Life does wonders to set children on the path to capturing their memories and scrapbooking.  They don't get caught up in the chronological order of things and they just have fun.  I can learn a lot about how easy scrapbooking can be from my daughter.

But I digress.  Today's post is about the books I made for the three ambassadors leading our troop.  They are the 6 x 8 Kraft Albums.  I wanted them to put the scrapbooks we made with the Daisy Troop inside of them.  Since all the Project Life supplies are retiring, we got a great deal for the 11 books we made and the three ambassador books I'm showing below.

I took a 2" strip of our Delightful Daisy DSP and put it on the left side with a 1" piece of Shimmer White.  Then I printed their names with the printer on Shimmery White and used the aquapainter to color them with Night of Navy ink.  I love the blue and purple look this gave them.  I stamped the cover using Night of Navy ink and Gorgeous Grunge.

Finally, I tried to make a Daisy like was in the DSP. It didn't quite turn out but it's still cute to me.  I punched two of them from the Shimmery White using the Daisy punch.  The secret to these flowers is to curl the edges a little with a pencil or paper piercing tool and then put a dimensional on the back of one.  Turn the flowers over so that you can layer the second one perfectly, leaving no space between the petals.  The center of the flower is a 1/2 circle punched from the Shimmery paper as well.  Then I colored it using the aquapainter and Daffodil Delight ink.

  • Ink: Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight
  • Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge (retiring)
  • Accessories: Daisy Punch (new), Aquapainter, Dimensionals, Tear and Tape, 1/2 Circle Punch
