Layout of the Month - January 2022 - Card #4

Quick post today with my January Layout of the Month sample featuring Paper Pumpkin. The January kit, Kisses & Hugs, was designed to meet the need for loving cards during February.  While it didn't actually include a Valentine's Day sentiment, it did include plenty of Xs and Os to make you feel loved.  You can look at earlier posts to see additional samples with this kit and for the dimensions and instructions for the Layout of the Month.

As a note, I chose to stamp off the Gray Granite for all these images.  While it makes them appear light in the photo, it really does make them coordinate better, in my opinion, with the gold in the card.  Feel free to do full strength if that seems better to you!

Directions:

  1. Cut apart the Blushing Bride hearts trifold.
  2. Turn hearts on their side and cut up the XO front and the solid Blushing Bride to get the ¾ x 3 ¾ strips.
  3. Stamp off the dots in Gray Granite and then stamp from upper right to lower left on an 8 ½ x 5 ½ Very Vanilla card base.  Repeat until full enough for you.
  4. Add a 2 ¾ x 3 ¾ piece of Gold Foil to the card with adhesive.
  5. Add the three strips from the cut-up card using adhesive.
  6. Stamp off “For You” in Gray Granite and stamp on the bottom of a 2 ½ x 3 ½ piece of Very Vanilla.
  7. Add to the card using dimensionals.
  8. Cut up an arrow and add to the card front using adhesive so it's the right size.
  9. Add a Blushing Bride die cut heart to the card with dimensionals.
  10. Add embellishments as desired.

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - January 2022 - Kisses and Hugs

Valentine's Day is just a few weeks away so I was happy to see this kit arrive in time!  Each year, I hide notes for my husband with little things that I love about him and what I'm grateful for.  Even though we have been together for more than 20 years, the last two years have given us plenty of moments to discover new things we count on each other for.  I'm looking forward to this year's notes!

This timely Kisses & Hugs Paper Pumpkin kit offered up 10 non-traditional cards with standard envelopes, an exclusive photopolymer stamp set, a Gray Granite ink spot, instructions, and adhesive.  New subscribers also received a clear block in their kit.  All you have to supply is a little time to yourself and scissors and you can be off and running to make fun cards and projects from your own home.

This kit featured several colors that I have not combined on my own before: Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, Gray Granite, Basic White, Very Vanilla, and Gold.  Secret reveal - I don't like working with gold.  So, to get my creativity started, I made a point of cutting card bases in all these colors, as well as gathering the ink pads and Blends.  I also printed off a few photos in case I went the decor route.  Finally, I grabbed a set of dies that I thought would let me leverage the prints in this kit - the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  Normally you don't need to add additional supplies to the kit so it's a great option for beginner stampers.  But for those of us with rooms full, it's a great opportunity to partner with other materials we have!

These are the original samples from the kit.  Remember that they fold like an
accordion so that you don't bend the sides!

These cards are cute and will mail easy and work well for those needing quick Valentine's Day or Love cards.  But I wanted something a little more my style.  Below are my samples featuring the products and stamps in this kit.  They are made with a combination of cutting up envelopes & card bases, leveraging scraps from the kit, and adding the items mentioned above from my craft cave.

The additional samples tied to my Layout of the Month will post on Monday the 31st!

Subscribers with me will get a tip sheet with step by step instructions for how to do these projects at home as well as an invitation to a virtual Zoom class on the last Monday of the month where I show how I made them.

I hope you all enjoy taking the time to create something for someone special in your life - like YOURSELF!

Layout of the Month - January 2022 - Card #3

I am so tired of gray days and sickness, I can't even tell you!  So this week I used my layout of the month to get myself out of this dreary space and into a brighter place.  I'm even rhyming without noticing.

For dimensions and instructions for this month's layout, click
HERE.

Today's samples were both made using the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle (#157727, $44.00) & the Cloud Punch (#157749, $18.00.)

When you purchase these two items during Sale-a-Bration, you also can earn the Sunshine & Rainbows 6x6 DSP pack (#158126) for free.  This pack of paper is sure to break through your cloudy days.

These cards were made utilizing the scraps of each other so let's do this one step by step.

First, cut the rainbows into strips from the DSP and cut them individually so you have rectangles with rainbows.

Next, put your rainbow die on the DSP and run it through your Cut & Emboss Machine.  This will punch out four arcs while leaving just a little hint leftover.  Set this piece aside!

Layer the four arcs on a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of Whisper White by using glue dots on the back.

Punch out the clouds from another piece of SAB DSP.  If you have some that are near the edges, just layer them together with adhesive and dimensionals like I did here.

Now layer your 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock on your card.  Layer the three 3/4 x 3 3/4 strips on top of it.  Then add your rainbow piece using dimensionals.  Add the two clouds, using adhesive on one and dimensionals on the other.  Stamp the sentiment on a 1/2 x 3ish strip and add with adhesive.

For the next card, cut your card base to 11 x 4 1/4 and score at 5 1/2.  Add your Mango Melody 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 piece of cardstock to the paper with adhesive.  Add three strips of the DSP using adhesive.  Stamp your sentiment on the bottom of the 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of Basic White and add to the card with dimensionals.  Add a rectangle rainbow from the DSP to the card with adhesive.

Now, put dimensionals in the three areas on the scrap from card #1.

Layer this on the card over the DSP.

Isn't it fun?

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - December 2021 - Lots of Pun

You know the saying "Better late than never..." Well, I guess good things come to that lose their kits for a while. With all the covid things happening around me, I needed an outlet to boost my mood and finally pulled out this really punny set.  I thought that it would just work for kids but was surprised when I realized how much the little jokes and images made me smile.  I started thinking of friends and family that could also use a little spontaneous laughter or at least a head shake and the list got really long really fast!

These cards all utilize either stamps or pieces from the December 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit, Lots of Pun.  The kit itself came with supplies to make 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs.  It also came with an Early Espresso ink spot, instructions, envelopes, twine, and adhesive.  First time subscribers would have also received a clear block in their kit.

These are the samples that came with the kit.  They really are adorable.

Here are my alternatives. Subscribers with me will receive a pdf with dimensions and instructions for each of these cards so they can make them on their own.  While you can no longer get this kit, you can sign up by the 10th of the month to receive the next great kit.  Then join me for the 4th Monday of the month (or 5th for January) and see all my alternative ideas.  I'd love to have you join us!

These first few are done with the Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, and Crumb Cake Blends Combos.  I did them so that they would layer on Notecards but also liked them on regular sized card fronts.

For this group, I cut up one set of the cards included in the kit.  Doesn't that egg look like a flower when it's not stamped?

This group all has elements of a set of cut up envelopes.

This card features the December Layout of the Month (remember, better late than never).  The DSP is from the envelope and the Pool Party piece is what was trimmed off.  Peeking out the back is the square from the kit.  I used the label to help me cut the corners to the same rounded shape.

Finally, this one is just a different design on the front of one of the included cards and the bananas are colored with Daffodil Delight Blends and Dark Crumb Cake.

I hope you liked these samples and will join me later this month when I post my January alternatives.
