Layout of the Month - October 2021

It's October - which means we are ready for pumpkins, all the fall colors, a ton of holiday activities, and a new Layout of the Month.

As I mentioned last month, I'm doing a new program called Layout of the Month where I will show you a new card each Monday featuring the layout.  In this case, I was so inspired by my layout that I made FOUR cards with it to show you on the first day but I'll break them down one by one the rest of this week!  This layout works best with 6x6 paper because you cut it into two 3" columns and then cut it apart from there.  No waste!

While I forgot to do Mystery Monday, we did Mystery Monday on Tuesday and I have several customer cards to add to this post as well.  The theme was Halloween since it's one of my favorites and here is what you need to participate from your own supplies.

Supplies

Stamps:

  • A sentiment of your choice
  • Image(s) you can stamp and then die cut, punch, or cut out (note that this can be an image cut out of DSP)

Cardstock: Can use 1 color for all cuts below or up to three coordinating colors:

  • Card base - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2
  • Cardstock 1 – 4 1/2 x 3 1/4
  • Coordinating Cardstock for stamping sentiment and image

Designer Series Paper:

  • 2 pieces (different or same patterns) at 3 x 2
  • 1 piece at 3 x 1/2

Tools & Accessories:

  • Something to punch or die cut out the sentiment
  • Something to punch or die cut out the stamped image
  • Embellishment of your choice
  • Adhesive
  • Dimensionals
  • Scissors
  • Inks

Instructions

  1. Rough up the edges of you 4 ½ x 3 ¼ piece of cardstock and attach your cardstock piece to your card front with adhesive.
  2. Attach the two rectangles of DSP to the card front with adhesive.
  3. Attach the strip of DSP to the card with adhesive.
  4. Stamp your sentiment & punch out or die cut out.
  5. Attach to the card with dimensionals or adhesive.
  6. Stamp your image(s) on the scrap of cardstock and punch/cut out.

              Samples

Here is my initial sample featuring the Cute Halloween 6x6 DSP (156479, $11.50) and the Cutest Halloween Bundle (156486, $31.50).  It's layered on a Basic Black card base and a Pumpkin Pie layer.  The saying is cut out using the Cut & Emboss Machine and the Ornate Frames dies.

TIP: If you want to have ghosts going both ways, you just punch out a ghost, turn the solid ghost stamp over so it's bigger and facing the right way and stamp.  If you miss the outlines, add them using a Stampin' Write marker!  :)

Once I got started, I had to make a few more cards using this great paper and bundle only arranged a little different.  Each one of these cards will be featured individually this week so I can talk you through more of the tips using the bundle and this awesome paper and layout.

Here are other samples using these same cuts courtesy of my Mystery Monday crafting friends. Products on these samples may not be offered in my online store as customers use their own stash to create their cards.
