Kicking off Basketball and Sale-a-Bration

So I mentioned that I love how the Epic Celebrations stamp set works for the musical men and children in my life but it also fit nicely into the start of basketball season tonight.  This little card came together great and was so much fun to color.  Featuring the Light and Dark Night of Navy Stampin' Blends, along with a Chalk Marker, this card is sure to please.  Or I hope it does since it's one of my class cards for Saturday!

I really like that you can use the Stampin' Blends to color paper, rhinestones, ribbon, etc.  But you can also use them to wash over words like this card.  Cute, eh?

Stampin' Blends are Epic

Once I started playing with the Epic Celebrations stamp set and the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper, I just couldn't stop.  I added in a few Stampin' Blends to the mix and started having some real fun.  I thought that the Blends could only be used with the Archival ink but because I was using the same Blends as the ink, I didn't notice too much bleeding with my blending.

For this card, I used a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Very Vanilla and stamped three guitars on it.  Then I filled it in with dots from the set.  I colored the chords of the guitar with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blend and then the Light and Dark Night of Navy for the base.  The saying is in Night of Navy ink and punched out with a 1 1/4 circle punch.  I layered it on Tranquil Tide and added to the card with Silver Metallic Thread and dimensionals.  There is also a 1/2 x 5 piece of DSP on the right side.  There is also a spare rhinestone from another card on the bottom corner, colored with the Light Night of Navy Stampin' Blend.

Sale-a-Bration is an Epic Celebration

I was so excited to discover the Epic Celebrations set in the Sale-a-Bration offerings this year. As the wife of a bass player and a family of gamers, the images and sayings in this set are perfect.  Pair them with our new True Gentleman Designer Series Paper, and you have a masculine card for the win.

Today I am posting the first of three cards made using this combo.  This is the card that started it all.  I wanted a boy birthday card for a musician friend's son.  I wanted some patterns but nothing too complicated since I wanted to cut out the guitar and I only had a few minutes.  

To make this, layer a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Very Vanilla on a folded 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece of Tranquil Tide.  Add a 1 3/4 x 2 3/4 piece of the plaid to the card about 3/4" from the right side.  Stamp the Epic statement in Night of Navy.  Add the 1 x 4 piece of DSP to the left side (again, about 3/4 from the side).  Stamp the guitar in Night of Navy ink on a scrap of Vanilla and cut out.  Layer on the card using dimensionals.
