Fancy Folded Butterfly

This weekend I participated in a Creative Convention Online experience with Ronda Wade and Maggie Patterson.  They designed a set of make-n-takes that utilized the Neutrals Paper Stack and the Neutral Buttons.  Most of them also feature the Butterfly Basics stamp set, which perfectly aligned with the special SU is having with the thinlits and stamp set.

This card is a fancy fold as well. You take a 11 x 4 piece of DSP and score it at 2 3/4 from each side.  Then I put a piece of Whisper White on the inside to write on.  Stamp and attach the image to the center of the card by putting adhesive only on the one side (so the card opens).  The butterfly is covering up a mistake where I tried to just ink the "Happy" in "Happy Birthday".  Who messes up a clear stamp?  This girl apparently..... But I liked the look.  I stuck with this color combo since it was like the cards I've posted the last few days and I wanted to give my customers that purchased supplies to make them could also make cards like this!  Just change out the DSP for Crumb Cake cardstock instead and you are set!

Supplies:
  • Cardstock: Neutrals DSP Stack, Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss
  • Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Soft Suede
  • Stamp Set: Butterfly Basics

Another Daydream Butterfly

Today I'm sharing another project using the same supplies as yesterday!  It was very fun teaching my class in April with two different cards coming from the same supplies - definitely something I'll do more often!

Like yesterday, I originally did this card using the Artisan Embellishment kit, which unfortunately is not orderable anymore.

Removing the ribbon and changing the pearl accent allowed me to use current merchandise to teach during the class.  The little butterfly is punched out using the Butterfly Thinlit and the flowers are using the Floral Frames framelits - which aren't retiring unlike the coordinating stamp set!

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss
  • Ink: Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss
  • Stamp Set: Daydream Medallions, Butterfly Basics
  • Accessories: Big Shot, Magnetic Platform and Mats, Floral Frames Framelits, Dauber, Dimensionals, and Adhesive, Basic Pearls
Instructions:
  • Attach the Blackberry Bliss to the Very Vanilla cardstock using adhesive.
  • Attach the strip of Crumb Cake to the Blackberry Bliss using adhesive.
  • Stamp the two smaller medallions on the piece of Very Vanilla (refer to the template for placement).  Punch out using the framelits and the Big Shot.  Crumple and distress if desired.  Layer on the card using dimensionals.
  • Stamp the butterfly in Blackberry Bliss on the small scrap of Vanilla as shown.  Punch out using the framelits.  Layer on the card using dimensionals.
  • Apply one of each size of pearls to the body of the butterfly.

Through April 30th, you can take advantage of either of these options:

  1. Get the Butterflies Thinlits at a 15 percent discount--just $21.20!
  2. Buy any of the Butterflies Thinlits Bundles--already discounted 15 percent--and choose one of three FREE Sale-A-Bration items (only available while supplies last)!
  • Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper (item 138633)
  • Best Year Ever Accessory Pack (item 138634)
  • Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 138635)
The bundle is available in photopolymer, clear mount, or wood!

Basically a Beautiful Butterfly Promotion

Have you longingly been waiting for items from the Occasion catalog that have been on backorder?  Have you looked at the Butterfly Thinlits and thought "Beautiful, but look at all those holes to punch out?"  Do you want something pretty that is on sale until April 30th?

I will be featuring projects using the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the Butterfly Thinlits over the next few days.  This stamp set is very versatile, a great set for Spring, and fun to play with. Tomorrow's sample uses the same set of supplies as the cards below!  And, if you ever wanted to know, these are the types of cards I do at my stamp camps!  :)

Through April 30th, you can take advantage of either of these options:
  1. Get the Butterflies Thinlits at a 15 percent discount--just $21.20!

Today's card is one of my favorite's that I've designed.  The first one features the big pearls from the Artisan Embellishment Kit that is not currently available for order.

So I substituted the postage stamp from the Butterfly Basics set and viola, beautiful! It also utilizes the Daydream Medallions set for the background that is retiring.  Figures.... just when I find a great way to utilize it, right?  :)

Supplies:
  • Cardstock/DSP: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Blackberry Bliss
  • Ink: Blackberry Bliss
  • Stamp Set: Butterfly Basics, Daydream Medallions
  • Accessories: Big Shot, Magnetic Platform and Mats, Butterfly Thinlits, 3/4 Circle Punch, Dimensionals
Instructions:
  • Stamp the largest two medallions on the piece of Very Vanilla using Crumb Cake.
  • Stamp Wishes at the bottom in Blackberry Bliss.
  • Layer the butterfly on the card using dimensionals behind the body.
  • Stamp the postage stamp on the corner of the small scrap of Vanilla.  Punch out using the 3/4 circle punch and layer on the center of the butterfly using a dimensional.
For tips on how to easily use these framelits, check out this great video by Patty Bennett - https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/pattys-stamping-spot-2642133/how-to-easily-die-cut-new-butterflies-thinlits-3984275309/ - it TRULY WORKS!

In the Spirit of Giving

We are makers of cards.  We buy supplies.  We create ideas.  We play.  And sometimes we even put all of these things together and send out the cards we make.

I have very thoughtful friends.  When my daughter was born, there was quite a scare and I relied on the staff at the hospital to get me through.  With all the emotions, I didn't have time to think of how to say thank you any more than I already was.  When our friends had their daughter 12 weeks early, they were also overwhelmed by emotions (and still are) but their friends stepped up and took the reins on making sure the staff at the NICU was aware of how much we appreciated all they were doing.  We said thank you on their behalf so they could focus on their tiny, beautiful, amazing girl.

These thoughtful friends organized a group of us to each take a week while little one was still in the NICU.  For our week, my dearest friend Ilene and I create a set of notecards and envelopes for each of the staff members at the NICU.  While 75 cards can be daunting in a day, we really enjoyed creating and laughing and talking about a variety of things while we stamped.  It was our version of "whistling while we worked."

I've shared this design with you before but we adapted it to work on the notecards.  We used many Sale-a-Bration products because that Simply Wonderful stamp set works just perfect when you want to tell a nurse or doctor that they "are the best" and "Thanks so very much" and that we are so "happy for you."  We hoped to have Callie help us sponge the Simply Irresistible DSP but she was too engrossed with Mickey cartoons to assist much.

We didn't even think about packaging.  After Ilene left, I stared at my punch boards and boxes and thought "Do I have any creativity left in me?"  Turned out, I had a few words left to share.  I discovered that 5 of our notecards and envelopes will fit into our clear envelopes. I wrote a nice note to put in the front, saying what I wished I would have said five years ago to my nurses and doctors. I stamped the top with two sayings from the For Being You stamp set as well.  I'm so glad that I spent all that money so I could get these items.... :)

I hope you all have a great Easter.  I hope your hearts and homes are full.  I hope you hug your children and call your parents so that the people in your life know that they are special to you every day.  I have thoughtful friends that remind me to be thoughtful to others, so thank you all for all you do to support me, my family, and my life.
