Celebrating Creativity - Day 16

My final butterfly swap is for a Treat Swap I'm in at Convention.  I wanted to leverage the Tag a Bag boxes because I think they are an excellent size for gift giving.

I used white Stazon to stamp on the window sheet included with the boxes.  I layered a butterfly stamped in Blushing Bride with a butterfly cut out from the Gold Vellum.  Then I did a Blushing Butterfly thinlit on the top.  But it was missing two things - a body and antennae.

 

The body of the butterfly is half of a clothespin.  I took off the metal fixture and then inked with White Stazon.  Once added to the body using glue dots, I added a piece of Gold Metallic Thread to the back and it gave it the perfect amount of whimsy.

Celebrating Creativity - Day 13

Today's post is really today's post.  :)

As I'm busy sharing my Convention swaps, I wanted to share a fun little project that came together as I was working on Happy Birthday cards for all Callie's friends.  This card is for a masculine swap at Convention.  While not necessarily manly, it is "little manly" and little boys like my son LOVE anything that flies in the air!

This new Schoolhouse Designer Series Paper (DSP) is really bright and fun to play with.  The colors are perfect for BSU fans and the colors are great for boys.  The strips of DSP are 5 x 1 and 4 x 2 1/2.  The center panel can be whatever you'd like it to be but mine was 2 1/4 x 3 and the parachute is popped on a dimensional.  I put a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Garden Green on the inside of the card for writing the messages.  Whisper White would work to.  I colored in the Happy Birthday with the Tangerine Tango marker and the little army man with the Garden Green marker.

Chalk Talk Convention Swap

Taking a moment out of my last minute swap prep for Convention to post another of the general swaps that is complete for this week.

This card allows me to teach my customers how to do the chalkboard techique while using a few of my favorite products in the catalog like the magnetic platform and the Chalk Talk Bundle.  The bundle includes the stamp set and the framelits for 15% off! 

This card showcases how you can use the Big Shot in your paper crafting.  Embossing Folders & Framelits bring dimension and texture to cards with very little effort.  While not a glitter gal, I have to say that this card is made by having a small glitter brad right on the top!

Craftastic Notes:

• If using framelits and embossing folders, make sure you do the framelit first.  Otherwise, the pressure of putting the cardstock through the Big Shot to cut it will flatten out your embossing.
• This card has a sneak peek of our Chalk Talk Marker available on August 1st!
• When doing the chalkboard technique, you use VersaMark and white embossing powder to do the saying but a sponge and White Craft ink around the Basic Black cardstock to make it look chalked.

Convention Swaps - Pretty Pansies

It's Convention week!  I'm so excited because this is more than just a great Stampin' Up! event for me.  It's an annual trip I get to take with my mom and sister, who are both demonstrators, where we get to tap into every part of our creativity and we come back so energized though exhausted!

This year is the 25th Anniversary for Stampin' Up!  While the beauty of convention is that it's usually like clockwork for us (we know when to get up, where we sit, where we go on which days, etc.), this year they have changed the format up and so it's all going to be an adventure.  I have my water, apples, and energy bars - so I'm up for the challenge.

The challenge I haven't been so prepared for was getting my convention swaps done.  I thought I had great ideas and that I was done early and then I realized I only made like 50 general swap cards.  I mean, with SIX THOUSAND stampers in one space, I really only want to meet a fraction of them and get their great ideas????  So I'm back at the drawing board making more cute swaps while my husband plays single dad for the night.

I will be posting my projects this week that I'm swapping at convention.  These cards are ones that I did at my camp this weekend and will be doing again on August 3rd if anyone is interested in attending or getting a kit.

This card is for a swap group I'm in.   I love the new 2013-2015 In Colors.  All you have to do is look through a Pottery Barn catalog for color ideas for them which is how I landed on this combo.

• Ink: Early Espresso
• Stamps: Dictionary, Really Good Greetings, Mosaic Madness
• Accessories: 3/4 Circle Punch, Pansy Punch, Hexagon Punch, Sponge, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals, Sanding Block, Adhesive

Craftastic Notes:

• The Pistachio Pudding flower is out of our Core'dinations paper.  You can crinkle it, sand it, and more to show the core on the inside.
• The stems are one of the strips from the Mosaic Madness stamp set.  I thought it added a little funky look to it.
• The Dictionary background stamp is a lot of fun to use. I have mine in clear mount but didn't mount it on a block.  Just cover it with ink and then lay your cardstock on it.  Tap with your fingers to get that sporatic wording all over the card.
• Use the hexagon punch to punch out the ends of the banner.  Mine was done with scissors since I hadn't heard that great tip yet.  If you use the hexagon, it works best on paper that is 1 1/4" wide or less.

Washi Clothespins & Sneak Peek

Ever look at a word and just think "I'm not spelling that right?"  That's how the word clothespins seems to me.  Maybe it's because I haven't see a full size clothespin since my Grandma Barbara used to do the laundry and hang it out to dry behind their house. 

Today I had a full craft day with Callie.  We worked on canvases and painting and Convention swaps.  She's quite adept with the Big Shot, I must say.  I think it might be her favorite product we sell!  That and the Circle Framelits because they look like bracelets and rings.  The wonder that comes from being a toddler!

Anyhow, today's project is my general 3D swap for Convention.  I wanted to do something that I would do at my own holiday camp that was quick and also an easy embellishment for a gift during the holidays.  You just pin it on to the bag or bow or tag and there you have it - a special homemade touch in just a few minutes.

The pins have our new **SPOILER ALERT** Season of Style Washi tape from our upcoming Seasonal Mini Catalog.  The stamped image is from A Round Array and is punched out using the 1/2 Circle Punch and 7/8 Scallop Circle Punch.  Callie helped me put the "stickers" on the back so they are elevated with two layers of dimensionals.

I did cut magnets and put them on the back.  I figure today's Callie artwork would look great in the one I keep, though she did say it was for Daddy...
