Halloween Hanger

Since it's Friday the 13th, it seemed only appropriate to post one more Halloween project this week.  After this, I'm focusing in on my holiday classes and Halloween costumes and treats for the kiddos' school parties.

When I do Creative Conventions Online, I'm always inspired by the training and the projects.  I've mentioned before that I love Paper Pumpkin because it gives me what I need in a little box without having to go through my craft room to develop a creative plan.  Taking classes from other demonstrators does the same thing - it lets me focus on one stamp set and ink without being overwhelmed by all my goodies!

This project was designed by Erica Cerwin.  I love the idea of this project even though I had to change my images to use Spooky Cat instead of Creep it Real like her sample.  Dimensions and instructions for my version are below.  I cannot wait to make these for other holidays and put them on the kiddos doors.  Callie said she wanted to make one for Santa but was afraid we'd have to put the milk on the table next to it since it would be too heavy.  I love her little brain even more than this awesome project!

First you make the box.  To do this, you will cut a piece of 8 1/2 x 10 1/2 Pumpkin Pie and score at 4” and 6 3/4” on the long side and at 2 3/4” and 5 3/4” on the short side.  Cut up the score lines on the long side until you hit the horizontal score line.  Then fold up the bottom and adhere to make the box. I adhered mine with Tear and Tape.

Next, we make the hanger piece.  Starting with an 8 1/2 x 3 piece of cardstock, punch a 2 1/4 circle in the top.  Slide this into your box and adhere using Tear and Tape.  Punch out a 2 1/4 circle from a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then run through the big shot with the 2 7/8 Scallop Circle.  Add to the hanger using adhesive and add a few black rhinestone jewels.

Finally, we will decorate the front of the box.  Attach a 2 3/4” x 3 3/4” piece of DSP to a 2 7/8” x 4 7/8” piece of Basic Black cardstock and hook to the front of the box using Tear and Tape.  Layer the black circle from the Scallop Punch on the center of the DSP using dimensionals.  Create banner ends with the strip of DSP and add to the box with dimensionals.  Stamp the Wicked Treat and the Happy Halloween in Memento Black and punch out using the Everyday Label Punch.  Layer on the banner using dimensionals and add the black rhinestones.  Than stamp the hat on the circle scrap and cut out.  Add to the project with even more dimensionals!

The best Paper Pumpkin kits of the year come during the holidays, in my opinion!  This year, Stampin' Up! is trying something new and giving us TWO months of holiday kits in October and November and they will coordinate.  If you didn't order by October 10th, you won't be able to get the first kit at your door but you can still subscribe by November 10th to get the second one.  These kits will help you get your card and gift making started off right!

Paper Pumpkin is creativity in a box.  It costs $19.95 plus tax and ships to your mailbox once a month.  It contains everything you need for your own creative escape.  Besides the instructions and pieces for the cards or project, it also contains ink and photopolymer stamps and usually the adhesive you need as well.  My subscribers will also get a project sheet with tips and additional ideas and instructions that they can make with the supplies in the kits and sometimes some supplemental supplies.  Plus I try to send one of the alternative ideas out to everyone in the mail so you get two fun surprises in the mail each month!  Sign up by the 10th of the month to get that month's kit!

There are two ways to sign up.

Subscribers can also have access to all my past project sheets!
