Countdown to Christmas - Day 6

Today's project was unplanned and something I'll make a lot more of in the future.  I think that it's important to thank people who host gatherings or parties because it take a lot of work and it's important to show gratitude.  I wanted to give a Christmas hostess a gift last week but I couldn't find any wrapping paper.  Since she's also one of my best crafting buddies, I decided I'd order her a Stitched Shapes Framelit set before they became unorderable (they will be back in January though!)

But how to wrap it?

It just happened that my 2 1/2 year old son knocked over a stack of supplies at that moment and my envelope punch board was among them.  So I cut a piece of Candy Cane DSP to 10 1/4 x 10 1/4 and made an envelope for a 6 x 7 card.  I then slid the framelits into it and created a belly band to hold the flap closed.

The front was decorated by cutting out a candy house from the scraps of leftover paper and mounting it on two squares cut using the Framelits that I was giving her.  I put a little Wink of Stella on the snow for bling.

Inside I cut a 6 x 7 piece of Whisper White cardstock that I wrote a note on and decorated with another stitched square and cut house.  A unique and relatively quick package that looked much more intricate than it was!  Plus it showed her a sample of what was inside so hopefully she immediately wants to use it with her projects!

  • Cardstock: Candy Cane DSP (10 1/4 x 10 1/4, scrap), Real Red (7 x 1 1/2, 8 1/2 x 1 1/2 scored at 3/4 and 7 3/4, scrap), Crumb Cake (scrap)
